IQALUIT, Nunavut (October 30, 2018) – Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) has awarded the 2018 Laura Ulluriaq Gauthier Scholarship to Jasmine Redfern of Iqaluit. This year’s recipient is a Nunavut Law Program student pursuing a career as a bilingual Inuktitut and English-speaking lawyer.
“Ms. Redfern has been a leader and advocate for Indigenous youth within the territory and across the country,” said the Honourable Jeannie Ehaloak, Minister Responsible for QEC. “She possesses many of the same leadership traits as Laura Ulluriaq Gauthier, for whom this scholarship is named.”
IQALUIT, Nunavut (October 25, 2018) – The Honourable Jeannie Ehaloak, Minister Responsible for Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC), has announced three new appointments to the Corporation’s Board of Directors; Juanie Pudluk of Iqaluit, Nastania Mullin of Iqaluit, and Roxanne Reudiger of Rankin Inlet. On October 18, 2018, Cabinet approved the appointments for three-year terms.
Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the community of Cape Dorset that there will be planned intermittent power outages from Wednesday, October 24, to Thursday, November 15. The duration of the power outages may vary from five minutes to an hour and will occur between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
These power outages are required to make upgrades to the distribution system and improve reliability. The work will also prepare QEC’s system for the connection of the new power plant.
All customers will be notified in person in advance of any power outages.

This power outage is required to relocate a section of the power lines.
