Inuit Employment Plan

In line with Article 23 of the Nunavut Agreement, Qulliq Energy Corporation is committed to developing a workforce that is representative of the people we serve. As part of our dedication to Inuit employment, and as part of a wider government initiative, we have established an Inuit Employment Plan (IEP). The IEP is a comprehensive employment strategy outlining our current programs and future strategies for increasing Inuit employment across the corporation. Through our IEP, we have developed a number of employment programs designed to assist our Inuit employees with attaining their career goals. Some of our current programs include:

Inuit Leadership Development Program

The objective of the Inuit Leadership Development Program is to provide our Inuit employees with the opportunity to attain the education, experience, and professional accreditation required to succeed in senior positions within the Corporation.

Inuit Career Development Plans

Inuit Career Development Plans enable Inuit employees to engage in new work related experiences, complete course work, attend training sessions, and obtain professional credentials.

Apprenticeship Program

The Apprenticeship Program promotes Inuit employment in regulated trade positions by providing a mechanism for recruiting, training, and retaining Inuit employees in a number of utility driven trade positions. The positions include Powerline Technicians, Heavy Equipment Technicians, Power System Electricians, Meter Technicians, and Parts Person – Material Technicians.

Summer Student Program

The Summer Student Program exposes students to various divisions within the Corporation by providing them with the opportunity to gain the knowledge and experience required to more effectively plan their careers.
