Community Initiatives
At Qulliq Energy Corporation, we believe in building strong, sustainable communities through meaningful programs and partnerships. Our commitment goes beyond energy generation — we invest in the well-being, education, and empowerment of Nunavummiut through several community-focused initiatives.
The Ikajuuti Program — named after the Inuktitut word meaning “to offer support during times of need” — provides free energy-efficient LED lightbulbs to Elders and Seniors aged 55 and over. The program is part of QEC’s commitment to promoting energy literacy and supporting household energy savings while contributing to Nunavut’s Aging with Dignity Strategy. LED distribution events take place in communities across the territory, encouraging two-way dialogue between QEC and Elders.
QEC proudly supports the next generation of Nunavut leaders through two annual scholarships:
• The Laura Ulluriaq Gauthier Scholarship recognizes academic excellence and community involvement among post-secondary students.
• The Noah Paniyuk Memorial Scholarship celebrates trades excellence and honours the memory of a valued QEC employee.
These scholarships aim to empower Inuit and Nunavummiut students as they pursue their educational and career goals in fields that support the territory’s future.
