Planned Power Outage in Cape Dorset

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the community of Cape Dorset that there will be planned intermittent power outages from Thursday, January 3, to Sunday, January 20. The duration of the power outages may vary from five minutes to two hours and will occur between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

These power outages are required to perform upgrades to the distribution system and improve reliability.

QEC would like to thank the residents for their understanding and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the residents of Cape Dorset that the construction and testing phase of the new power plant will be extended until December 21.

While the corporation will take all measures to avoid any interruption to the community’s power supply, short power outages may occur while the new power plant is connected and tested. Customers will be informed in advance of planned power outages through hamlet officials, local radio and QEC’s social media channels.

IQALUIT, Nunavut (December 5, 2018) – Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) has applied to charge customers a fuel rider of 1.25 cents per kilowatt-hour for the period of November 1, 2018, to March 31, 2019. The application was submitted to the Minister responsible for QEC, who will seek recommendations from the territory’s Utility Rates Review Council.

Planned Power Outage in Iqaluit

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the residents of Iqaluit that there is a planned power outage scheduled for a section of the community on Sunday, November 25 from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. The affected area is highlighted on the map below.

This power outage is required to relocate a section of power lines to accommodate upcoming construction at the Baffin Correctional Centre.

QEC would like to thank the residents for their understanding and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
