Board of Directors
Qulliq Energy Corporation’s Board of Directors is appointed by the Minister responsible for QEC. Under the Qulliq Energy Corporation Act, the Board of Directors must be composed of no fewer than six directors, and no more than ten directors. The terms for board members are staggered at two or three year appointments, which helps the Corporation maintain business continuity, allowing for growth in experience and knowledge.
There are currently nine members serving on QEC's Board of Directors.
Jeannie Ehaloak- Chairperson
Jeannie Ehaloak is a former Member of the Legislative Assembly and Mayor of Cambridge Bay with extensive executive experience in policy, governance and public administration. During her tenure in the Legislative Assembly, she served in several cabinet portfolios, including the Minister responsible for Qulliq Energy Corporation, gaining a unique understanding of QEC’s operations and governance. Her career has been defined by proactive community consultation and intergovernmental leadership across Nunavut. Ms. Ehaloak is a resident of Cambridge Bay.
Martha Lenio- Vice Chairperson
Dr. Martha Lenio brings deep insight into global renewable energy solutions and Arctic-specific power systems to QEC’s Board of Directors. She currently serves as a Renewable Energy Specialist with the World Wildlife Fund Canada, drawing on over a decade of international experience in solar applications. Dr. Lenio holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Photovoltaic Engineering from the University of New South Wales, and a Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of Waterloo. Dr. Lenio resides in Iqaluit.
Alex Cook
Alex Cook is an entrepreneur and clean energy advocate with a background in corporate management and northern infrastructure development. Having started his career as a QEC summer student and later advancing into senior management, he currently serves as President of ArchTech, an Indigenous-owned design-build firm, and as Energy Champion for Baker Lake. Mr. Cook holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Leadership from St. Francis Xavier University and serves on several national Indigenous clean energy advisory boards. Mr. Cook resides in Baker Lake.
Nayab Khan
Nayab Khan is an experienced financial leader who has served in key public-sector comptrollership and executive roles across Nunavut. Her previous positions include Chief Financial Officer for Nunavut Arctic College and District Comptroller with Nunavut Housing Corporation. A Certified Management Accountant with a specialization in forensic accounting, Ms. Khan holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Economics from the University of Peshawar and a Master of Public Administration from Flinders University. Ms. Khan resides in Iqaluit.
Robin Anawak
Robin Anawak brings over twenty years of public policy, legislative analysis, and intergovernmental leadership to QEC’s Board of Directors. He currently serves as Senior Program Specialist with the Department of Family Services, leading strategic policy and legislative initiatives. Committed to strengthening Inuit representation in governance, Mr. Anawak is a graduate of the University of Ottawa’s Law program, Carleton University’s Political Science program, and the Nunavut Sivuniksavut program. Mr. Anawak resides in Iqaluit.
Paul Kaludjak
Paul Kaludjak has dedicated over four decades to public service and executive leadership across municipal, territorial, and Inuit governance organizations in Nunavut. His distinguished career includes leadership roles as President of Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated, President of the Kivalliq Inuit Association, and Mayor of Rankin Inlet. A fluent Inuktitut speaker, he brings extensive expertise in strategic planning, infrastructure, and the incorporation of Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit into public administration. Mr. Kaludjak resides in Iqaluit.
Travis Kalluak
Travis Kalluak is an operational leader at the Nunavut Housing Corporation, advancing through technical and managerial ranks from Housing Maintainer Journeyperson to executive leadership. He currently serves as Executive Director, Programs – Intern, overseeing territorial housing delivery, strategic partnerships, and program policy development. Fluent in Inuktitut, Mr. Kalluak is dedicated to integrating Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit into public programs to ensure service delivery effectively meets the needs of Nunavummiut. Mr. Kalluak resides in Arviat.
