Net Metering Program

QEC's Net Metering Program allows residential customers and two municipal accounts per hamlet to generate their own electricity from renewable energy sources and feed it into the company's power grid. Customers enrolled in the program can receive credit for the excess energy generated by their renewable energy systems and sent to our power grid. This allows customers to reduce the amount of electricity purchased from us.

The program also helps reduce Nunavut's dependence on diesel and its carbon emissions. QEC strongly recommends that customers do not purchase a renewable energy system before their application has been reviewed and approved. The maximum capacity of a renewable energy system must not exceed 15kW.
