Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the residents of Baker Lake that there will be a planned power outage on Sunday, August 29, from 8 a.m. to noon. The affected area is highlighted in yellow on the map below.

This outage is required to complete upgrades to the distribution system to improve reliability.

QEC Minister approves major project permits

IQALUIT, Nunavut (August 18, 2021) – The Honourable Jeannie Ehaloak, Minister responsible for Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) has approved power plant replacement projects in Cambridge Bay, Gjoa Haven and Igloolik, and a generator set replacement in the Iqaluit power plant. The corporation submitted applications for the projects on March 3, 2021.

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the residents of Gjoa Haven that there will be a planned community-wide power outage on Wednesday, August 18, from 12 a.m. to 3 a.m.

This outage is required to safely perform upgrades to the power generation system.

This power outage is required to safely replace a broken pole and make repairs to the distribution system to improve reliability.
