Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) is advising the public that a break-in occurred over the weekend at its Corporate Office Building in Iqaluit. The incident was immediately reported to the RCMP, and the matter is under active investigation.
Based on our current assessment, a limited number of physical, paper-based customer records, estimated at approximately 800, may have been accessed. These records contain customer names, mailing addresses, and certain billing-related details associated with pre-authorized payment arrangements. They were not electronic records and were not part of QEC’s computer systems.
There is no evidence at this time that any customer information has been misused. However, as a precaution, customers in Iqaluit who have pre-authorized payments with QEC are encouraged to review their recent bank or credit card statements and report any unusual or unauthorized activity to their financial institution.
Protecting customer information is a priority for QEC, and we are working closely with the RCMP and our internal teams to ensure this matter is addressed thoroughly and responsibly.
QEC will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available. For questions related to this notice, customers may contact QEC at customercare@qec.nu.ca
