Planned Power Outages in Gjoa Haven

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the residents of Gjoa Haven that there will be planned power outages in the community on Saturday, September 7 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. (highlighted in green on the map below), and Sunday, September 8 from 8:00 a.m. to noon (highlighted in yellow on the map below).

These power outages are required to connect new customers to the power distribution system. 

QEC would like to thank the residents for their understanding and apologize for the inconvenience this may cause.

Scheduled Power Outage in Rankin Inlet

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the community of Rankin Inlet that there will be a scheduled power outage in a portion of the community on Thursday, August 29 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The affected area is highlighted in yellow on the map below.

This power outage is required to replace broken power poles that were damaged during the winter months.

QEC would like to thank the residents for their understanding and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Planned Power Outage in Hall Beach

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the residents of Hall Beach that there will be a planned community-wide power outage on Tuesday, August 27 from 6:00 a.m. to 6:45 a.m.

This outage is required to perform repairs and maintenance to the generation system to improve reliability.

QEC would like to thank the residents for their understanding and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Martha Lenio brings insight into the global renewable energy economy to QEC’s Board of Directors. As a renewable energy specialist with the World Wildlife Fund Canada, Dr. Lenio’s knowledge of renewable energy technologies and power solutions incorporates the arctic environment in which QEC serves. Her ten years of extensive international experience with solar power applications is complemented by her Doctor of Philosophy in Photovoltaic Engineering from the University of New South Wales, and a Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of Waterloo. Dr. Lenio lives in Iqaluit.
