Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the community of Rankin Inlet that there will be a scheduled power outage in a portion of the community on Thursday, August 29 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The affected area is highlighted in yellow on the map below.

This power outage is required to replace broken power poles that were damaged during the winter months.

QEC would like to thank the residents for their understanding and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

This outage is required to perform repairs and maintenance to the generation system to improve reliability.

Iqaluit, Nunavut, August 19, 2019— Investing in local green infrastructure projects that support energy security, help the economy grow and improve the quality of life for those living and working in the North.

Today the Honourable Bernadette Jordan, Minister of Rural Economic Development; Bruno Pereira, President and CEO of the Qulliq Energy Corporation; and his Worship Ryan Nivingalok, Mayor of Kugluktuk, announced joint funding for Nunavut’s first hybrid solar/diesel power plant in Kugluktuk.

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the residents of Baker Lake that there will be a planned power outage in the community on Monday, August 19, from 8 :00 a.m. to noon. Affected area is highlighted on the map below.

This outage is required to replace a broken power pole that was damaged during the winter months.

IQALUIT, Nunavut (August 15, 2019) – Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) announced today that Cabinet has approved the appointments of Andrew Nakashuk, Keith Peterson, and Martha Lenio to the corporation’s Board of Directors. Additionally, Cabinet has approved the appointments of Simeonie Akpalialuk as chairperson and Keith Peterson as vice-chairperson of the board. The chairperson and vice-chairperson appointments are in effect until May 2020 and director appointments are for three-year terms.   

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the residents of Iqaluit and Apex that there will be a planned power outage on Thursday, August 15 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. The affected area will be from the French middle school to Apex and is highlighted in yellow on the map below.

This outage is required to make urgent repairs to the power distribution system.
