Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the residents of Sanikiluaq that there will be a planned power outage in a section of the community on Tuesday, October 22 from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon. The affected area is highlighted in yellow on the map below.

This outage is required to perform repairs and maintenance to the distribution system to improve reliability.

QEC would like to thank the residents for their understanding and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the residents of Iqaluit that there will be two planned power outages in the city on Saturday, October 12.

1.    The first power outage, from 7 to 9 a.m., is highlighted in yellow on the map below.

2.    The second power outage, from 9 to 11 a.m., is highlighted in orange on the map below.  

These power outages are required to accommodate construction in the area.

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) is currently accepting applications from Nunavut residents interested in serving on the QEC board. The corporation is looking for dedicated individuals from the territory with diverse educational backgrounds, leadership skills and vision to make a positive contribution to QEC.

Successful candidates will be appointed for a three-year term as part of an ongoing recruitment process.

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the residents of Chesterfield Inlet that two community-wide power outages are planned for Sunday, September 29 from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

These outages are required to test a new generator set in the power plant system.

QEC would like to thank the residents for their understanding and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

This outage is required to perform upgrades in the power generation system.

IQALUIT, Nunavut (September 12, 2019) – Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) is pleased to announce that Anchaleena Mandal of Iqaluit has been chosen as this year’s recipient of the Laura Ulluriaq Gauthier Scholarship. Anchaleena is a Doctor of Medicine student in the Queen’s University Accelerated Route to Medical School program and continues to develop competencies in Inuktitut to better connect with future patients.

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the residents of Cambridge Bay that there will be a planned power outage in a section of the community on Thursday, September 12 from 8:00 a.m. to noon. The affected area is highlighted in yellow on the map below.


This outage is required to install a power pole to connect new customers to the distribution system.

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform Nunavummiut that all renewable energy systems, installed on any building connected to the power grid,  require authorization from the Government of Nunavut’s Office of the Chief Electrical Inspector and QEC.

To ensure the safety of utility electrical workers and the reliable operation of the territory’s electrical systems, Nunavummiut are required to coordinate with QEC on their renewable energy installations.

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) would like to inform the residents of Gjoa Haven that there will be planned power outages in the community on Saturday, September 7 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. (highlighted in green on the map below), and Sunday, September 8 from 8:00 a.m. to noon (highlighted in yellow on the map below).

These power outages are required to connect new customers to the power distribution system.
