As Nunavut’s territorial utility, Qulliq Energy Corporation’s role extends beyond delivering reliable electricity. QEC is proud to support the strength, resilience, and well-being of the communities we serve.

Through our Community Donations & Sponsorships Program, QEC provides financial support to eligible organizations working to enhance the social, cultural, educational, environmental, and overall well-being of Nunavummiut.

Eligible organizations may apply for a monetary donation of up to $5,000 CAD to support initiatives taking place in Nunavut.

This program supports initiatives that contribute to:

  • Humanitarian, community, educational, and health-related activities that promote safety, learning, wellness, and improved quality of life; and/or,
  • Cultural, environmental, socioeconomic, and sporting events that strengthen community connections, celebrate identity, and foster local pride.

QEC is committed to investing in initiatives that reflect the unique values and priorities of Nunavut’s communities and demonstrate alignment with Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit.

Who Can Apply

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be a Nunavut-registered  non-profit organization, sports and/or cultural association, or registered business hosting a non-profit community event (not intended to promote a for-profit business).
  • The organization, event, or initiative must operate or take place within Nunavut.
  • Demonstrate alignment with Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit.
  • The project, event, or initiative must be scheduled to take place at least 60 days after the application deadline (March 6, 2026).
  • Submit a complete application with all required supporting documentation.
  • Organizations may submit only one application per intake period.
  • Funding cannot be provided for events that have already taken place.
  • While government departments are not eligible applicants, partnerships with government agencies may be disclosed as contributors.
  • This intake applies to initiatives occurring between May 2026 and December 31, 2026.

Information required to apply

  1. Name of your organization, team, or group, mailing address, and phone number.
  2. Brief description of the organization or group and its purpose.
  3. Contact person’s name, title, phone number, and email.
  4. Names and roles of individuals responsible for organizing or leading the initiative.
  5. Name and description of the initiative, activity, or event requiring support.
  6. Explanation of alignment with Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit.
  7. List of project contributors or partners (including companies, foundations, and government agencies).
  8. Date of initiative, event, or activity, or start of season for sport teams, or project timeline.
  9. Budget outline of expected expenses, and total cost for the initiative or event. 
  10. Requested donation amount (maximum $5,000 CAD).
  11. Supporting documents:
    1. Proof of non-profit or business registration. If formal registration is not available, applicants must provide one letter of support from a recognized community authority (e.g., Hamlet, school, community organization).
    2. Promotional materials, event poster, logo, team name, or activity name.

Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Review Process

  • Applications will be evaluated based on:
    • Community impact
    • Alignment with Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit
    • Project planning and clarity
  • Submissions will be reviewed by a QEC selection committee.
  • Funding is limited and awards may vary depending on the number and quality of applications received. Meeting eligibility criteria does not guarantee approval.

Successful Applicants

  • Successful applicants will be notified directly within approximately 2 weeks following the application deadline.
  • Approved donations may be publicly acknowledged through QEC’s communication channels.
  • Successful applicants are required to provide a brief post-event summary outlining how funds were used, the impact of the initiative, and may be required to provide photos of the event.
  • Use of QEC’s logo must be approved in advance and follow corporate branding guidelines
